Handa's Surprise

Date: 14th Oct 2015 @ 10:22pm

This week as part of Culture Week Reception have been looking at Handa's Surprise.  We have taken part in an African drumming and dancing workshop, which was extremely enjoyable.  We have also been looking at different African artefacts.  Can your child tell you anything about them?

Don't forget on Friday we are dressing up in green, red or black to match the colours of the Kenyan flag.  We have a picture of the flag up on the door in Reception.

The children have enjoyed the story of Handa's Surprise.  Please get them to tell you about the story.  Can they remember what the surprise was?  How did the tangerines get into the basket?

We enjoyed watching this together & Bethany was telling me what was coming next. She laughed lots at the end. We liked the hen story too

Lauren loves this story and could tell me which fruit the animals were going to pinch as Handa walked along. Lauren also told me about trying passion fruit and pineapple at school, but she didn't like them!
