I have been a nursery nurse for 38 years and worked at Sherdley for 25 Years.

This week is Wellbeing Week in school. We are incredibly lucky to have a number of visitors supporting us, delivering workshops and different, thought provoking activites. This morning Mrs Alyson gave us a run for our money! We did a thirty minute circuit training activity. Not only did our heart rates increase, our cheeks go pink but we also had a fun time. laughing and smiling, enjoying fun times with our friends is a great way to tackle negative thinking.

We also had an informative workshop this afternoon, led by a team of paramedics. They showed us the inside of an ambulance and paramedic car, discussed the differences between the two and even taught us some CPR in case of an emergency.

There is more to come as the week progresses including World Mental Health Day on Tuesday. The entire school will be wearing Yellow as part of a world campaign @HelloYellow. Spread the word around the world. Mental Health is not a stigma - we should talk about it openly, support each other where we can and don't be afraid to ask for help!

We have PE on Tuesdays and during Autumn Term we swim on a Wednesday. Ensure that YOU get your kit ready the night before. It is not your adults responsibility. Year 5 and 6 are the practise years for high school.

Homework has changed slightly this year. We expect you to read regularly and record this in your reading record. It doesn't matter what you read, school book, book from home, comic, magazine or the back of the beans however you do need to record it in your journal. Times tables are essential in order for you to do well in Maths. We will have a weekly test on a Monday. We will continue to have a fortnightly spelling test. The words will be added to our class page.

IDL Literacy is now set up. You can access this on any computer that has the internet, any ipad, iphone. The IDL mobile app is available free in the app store. All children have their log in and password in their reading records.

Looking forward to a busy October guys!

Here is a link to a great website where you can practise the things we've been doing in class or look for help if you are unsure with your homework. Have a look...

Click on the boot camp logo and you will be taken to a web page. Your class teacher will have given you the login details for the site and you can access any of the boot camps, literacy, maths, mental maths and the SPAG ones! [you have to put in your login details again if the 'subscribe to access this' pops up, so it ia good idea to save them once you have successfully logged on] the login details should be on a sticker in your child's Reading Journal.
