Anti-Bullying Week November 2019

Anti-Bullying Week

Here at Sherdley we take any form of bullying seriously. We are a telling school and and promote the message that bullying is not acceptable. Each year we have an Anti-Bullying Week in school during which we consider all aspects of bullying, including cyber-bullying.

Anti-Bullying Alliance

Mrs Bennett delivered anti-bullying workshops to key stage 2 linked to this year's theme - Change Starts With Us. The children learned about the different roles within bullying including ringleaders, targets, reinforcers, assistants, defenders and outsiders.

Supporting Odd Socks Day

Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!

There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or for parents to buy expensive costumes.  All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to your school or workplace, it couldn’t be simpler!  Odd Socks day usually takes place on the first day of Anti Bullying Week each year.

PlayGround Heroes

During a recent pupil voice session, pupils across school informed Mrs. Bennett that it was often difficult to see an adult at lunch time and play because we all wear blue! Now all of our midday supervisors wear orange hiviz vests which can be seen from anywhere on the yard. In addition to this, each class voted for their playground hero. One pupil who is a good listener, kind and friendly, not bossy and is able to help or offer advice when children need it. Mrs Lakey also provided some peer to peer listening training to further support our Playground Heroes in their new roles. You will see Playground Heroes also wearing orange hiviz vests.
