The Enormous Turnip

Date: 17th Nov 2015 @ 8:04pm

We have looked at several versions of the story 'The Enormous Turnip'.  The children have enjoyed listening to the story and have been talking about the different characters.

Can your child name all the different characters in the story?  Are they able to name them in the correct order?

Please share this version of the story with your child.  Can they tell you what is different about the story?

Look at the title and the characters are they the same as the book in school?

Jack enjoyed this version of the enormous turnip and said "Where is the little girl?" He was able to name all the characters in order.

Well spotted Jack. Have a look on YouTube and see if there are any other versions of the story with different characters in. Let me know if you find any!

Bethany says turnip soup yuck!

What soup would you make Bethany? Just think they had enough turnip soup to last them for days!

I'm glad you enjoyed this version Jack. I wonder why there is no girl in this version though.

Lauren enjoyed watching the video of The Enormous Turnip. She said "there is normally a little girl in the story who helps". She found it really funny when the turnip fell onto the old man.

Well done Lauren, we did have another character in our version of the story. I am glad that you found this story funny. I love books that make me laugh.
