Safeguarding

The Children's Act 2004 states:

Every Child Matters

All children have the right to:

  • Be Safe
  • Be Healthy
  • Enjoy and Achieve
  • Achieve Economic Well-being
  • Make a Positive Contribution

At Sherdley Primary we believe every child really does matter!

We recognise everyone that comes in contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. We recognise the significant and important role we play in identifying concerns early and providing help for children, to prevent concerns from escalating. We base our safeguarding principles on keeping our children safe, using the most recent version of DfE document Keeping Children Safe In Education (KCSIE) 2023.

We have very stringent and rigorous procedures and systems in school that support safeguarding and these are regularly updated with all staff.

Sherdley Primary School is part of the national Operation Encompass initiative with Merseyside Police. This means that school will be notified by the Police if they are called to a home for a domestic situation.

If staff have any concerns about a child they have a duty of care to inform other services. This may include Social Care.
