Art
Hello my name is Miss James and I am the art co-ordinator at Sherdley Primary School. I joined the school in 2016 and have been the art co-ordinator since 2017. I am also phase 5/6 lead for our school, DDSL and am part of the pastoral/behaviour team. I also love drama and regularly support Mr Hughes, our music co-ordinator, in leading our school prouductions!
Art is a vital area of expression, it enables us to see things from various perspectives, use a variety of practical skills and explore all the talent famous artists/designers have to offer our lives. As a school, we study a range of artists to ensure our children are exposed to a range of creative processes and styles, this enables them to express their individuality through a range of inspiring designers such as Frida Kahlo, Van Gough and Takashi Murakami. I love walking through school and witnessing the incredible range of art displays produced by our children, the progression from Pre-School to Y6 is clear to see. The way our children speak about Art is highly positive, they love their art lessons and enjoy using materials to create their own pieces.
