Geography
Hello, my name is Miss McDonald and I am the geography coordinator at Sherdley Primary School. I have been the geography coordinator since September 2021 and before that I was the reading coordinator.
Learning geography helps the children to develop their curiosity, fascination and appreciation of the world around them. For us at Sherdley Primary school, we think it is especially important to understand and gain knowledge of places and people in their local enviornment, Britain and the wolder world. It is lovely to see the children’s books and what they have been learning about in theier geography lessons, such as North America, Biomes, China, our local area, volcanoes, rivers, Liverpool and Kenya. We also support this learning by going on trips to: Liverpool, Chester and around our local area. Please click on the link above to have a look at the year groups topics and Age Related Expectations.
I also support the teachers in our school by attending courses and delivering training at staff meetings. I speak with them to see what teaching resources and events can improve and support our geography lessons.
If you would like to speak to me about the geography curriculum at our school, please contact me.
