PE

Hello, my name is Miss Williams, and I am the Year 1 Class Teacher and PE Co-Ordinator.
At Sherdley, we are committed to ensure that all children are given the chance to participate in sports and physical activity. Throughout PE, children learn transferable skills such as listening, problem solving, teamwork and resilience. These skills are useful and vital in children’s holistic development. We deliver high-Quality teaching of PE, that encourages all children to participate in sports. Lessons are accessible, engaging and challenging to all children at Sherdley.
We partake in a variety of sports competitions within the local area. Children can draw upon their prior knowledge and specific skills in a competitive, real-life environment. Children have great experiences and have always enjoyed the competitions they have attended. Often, children are asked what opportunities they would like to be involved in and we try and accommodate this.
Children have active minutes during lunch and break times. There are often sports activities to play during lunch time and play leaders facilitate this in KS1. This also reinforces the importance that sport and movement and its impacts on healthy lifestyles. We also have a wide range of sports clubs on offer for year groups each term. Please keep an eye on the app for extra curricula sports clubs that are available.
