Mr Davies  (PPA/Management time cover)

Hello and welcome to 6J’s class page! We hope you find this helpful and informative!

6J’s teacher is Miss James and we are supported in our learning by Mrs Stout, Mrs Tilston and Miss Tyms.

We hope you are looking forward to your final year at Sherdley! Y6 is busy but so much fun! We can’t wait! Please keep an eye on our school app for updates.

PE

PE for 6J is on Wednesdays and Thursdays (6J will also swim every Friday until 27th September.)

Please make sure your child has a NAMED PE kit. Also, please bring your child to school WEARING their PE kit on PE days. Earrings should not be worn on PE days.

Please ensure your child is wearing an appropriate P.E kit. Ask us for more information on this if needed!

Attendance

Attendance is super important in Y6! It prepares us for the challenges of high school. Please ensure your child is in school on time as often as they can be.

Reading and Go Read!

Reading is a hugely crucial element to all elements of your child’s education! In KS2, we use Go Read to log reading in school and at home, please log your child’s reading on Go Read from September. Logins will be provided for you!

Your child can now win Bronze, Silver or Gold awards for reading at home! More information on this in the newsletter!

Homework

Reading is so important! Please read regularly with your child and also make sure they can answer comprehension questions about the book. Books can be brought in and changed once they are completed. Please log ALL reading on Go Read.

In Y6 we work on a daily times table challenge. Children can earn these 4 badges: bronze, silver, gold and platinum! The children will be told which times table they need to work on to earn their next badge.

We are using a new spelling scheme in school called Spelling Shed! Please use spelling shed as regularly as you can to support your children with their spellings.

We also use SATs companion for all of our homework needs. Ask your child’s teacher for more information.

SATs

SATs take place in May and they are absolutely nothing to worry about! More information on the Y6 SATs tests will be available nearer to the date of the tests!

I hope this page answers any questions you may have about 6J! In the meantime, if you have anything else you would like to ask, please don’t hesitate to come and speak to me/send me a message via our school app!

Miss James 🙂
