Science

Hello my name is Miss Essex and I am the Science Coordinator at Sherdley Primary School. I joined the school in November 2001 and have been Science Coordinator for a number of years. I have always enjoyed teaching science and love how these sessions are inclusive for all pupils and have the ability to excite and engage children.

I support staff in encouraging our pupils to be curious about natural phenomena and to be excited about understanding the world around them. I have recently started a Science Ambassador club so the children have more ownership about how science is reflected around school. We intend to encourage the wider community to become more involved with our Sherdley family. We had a stall at the Summer Fayre to highlight our aims for the year and encourage parents to support the children in the future.

At Sherdley Primary, children will follow the national curriculum guidance for science. Some of the exciting topics include: seasonal changes, habitats and  earth & space. We will have dedicated aspirational science days throughout the year to help children see how science could impact on their future careers. We also study relevant scientists both past and present.

If you would like to contact me about science at Sherdley Primary School, please feel free.
